Poll: 4th Tripartite Meeting
During the 4th Tripartite Talk, GJMM has been immensely pressurized to focus only on the creation of Gorkhaland, besides, the conclusion of the Meeting seems to be only TALK on POLITICAL LEVEL in next round. Do you think 4th Tripartite Talk has been successful?

We Shall Triumph - Diplomatically

  • image yes..you're right upendra...we've been poor on diplomacy..perhaps because of our own conflicts in Darjeeling. When the CPRM delegation went to Delhi..they were told..that we should first get rid of our own conflicts. The DGHC could not be dissolved to demand for gorkhaland and now when we're finally on the verge of having talks, we have Congress in the Centre with a strong support from the Left. And ofcourse Mr. Dawa Norbula turned out to be a jackass !! By the way 'pussy cat" the poem you quoted is actually a poem by "Marianne Williamson"..take care..Long Live Gorkhaland..down with Sixth Schedule.

  • image Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Mandela said so.

  • image racism is the dark underbelly of indian politics and it would take nothing short of a miracle to convince the bengalis that they would infact gain from it. there are no lobby groups, 3 mla's who are busy claiming their pot of gold against the mighty bengali red army, tells quite a different picture. door to door canvassing etc is done when the social fabric is uniform and well knit.... siliguri is still mushrooming and there is a distinct line drawn between 'us and them'. the only form of communication we initiate with them is while talking to a rickshaw pullers, the majority of which incidentally happen to be biharis. them communicating with us is enquiring the weather of darjeeling. any further communication is viewed with suspiciion. media (national and international) has moved towards 'sensationalism'. you need to gauge the interest of the people before creating a front page.... or screen time as they say. and darjeeling is just a small cool town somewhere in west bengal. what much difference would it make if a few people fought with each other?would it?... whatever happened with the ex army folks was sad... trust me i felt bad as much as you did if not more... but lets be practical... it was a few lathis... what is the impact.... not even the entire population of darjeeling would care to read it... ask himali darpan or statesman journalists.... just my thoughts... and this time you ventured out into something new, not bad eh?

  • image Lauray Dai....it seems u understand nothing but Lauro (Dhanda)...if you cant even discuss and share your opinon n if u dont have ur independent thought than consider ur self to be piece of shit. What is harm in airing what i think. If u have an idea air it. it might be better than wat we have all read. if u have no idea of ur own, no opinion, than keep ur mouth shout. it is because of people like you.who have that typical herd mentality that there our aspiratons are never fulfilled and will never ever be fulifilled. now u can comment as much as u can to show blinkered existence in ur shitty world...good riddance for the betterment of the community.

  • image Dear Upendra,All the great success stories of today were considered Utopian ideas by the critics of yesterday. The reason they are success stories today is that they dared to dream and cared to achieve.Your ideas are brilliant, too a large extent practical. It is now left for the leaders to read and consider the input, finetune or refine it and most important execute it.Continue the good work.

  • image My compliments Mr. Upendra for your clarity of thoughts. For years together people in the hills have lived in harmony irrespective of caste, creed, language or religion. It is one place where you see people celebrating almost any festival with equal enthusiasm be it Christmas Losar Dasai or Diwali. I strongly agree with you that we need to make the movement more and more inclusive rather than alienate minorities. I would strongly recommend that GJMM invites representatives from minority communities into its various decision making forums.

  • image Upendra's has written a nice article. Congrats. I however have a different perception on the article as far as bengali nepali tiff is concerned. The Bengalis who live in their own state, would never want to be part of another state...this is with regard to siliguri. historically sila was ours but the ground reality is diffrent. lets accept that. Bongs might have given a sense that they are not against the idea of Gorkhaland. But remeber my frens, when it comes to divisin of bengal everyone unites to oppose the idea. Congres, CPM, Forward Bloc, RSP and even the STATE BJP, which is very imporant. Gorkhaland is a political issue. I personaly think that we should go about slowly. I personally believe that just like Sikkim has started the intergration policy to get into India we should start a campaign to disintergrate from Bengal. This has to be done socially, culturally n in all fronts. Honestly, I do not think Gorklahand is possible so soon..I think we should start campaigns like writing billboards stating welcome to gorkhaland, etc just to mentally prepare the bongs that we are seperating...when a bong comes from calcutta he should not have the feeling that he has entered Gorkhaland... N Guys dont trust the people from Calcutta to be symapthetic to the issue of division of Bengal. They will be sympathetic only till the day the threat of seperation is not grave. The moment they feel that they are losing...dear frens,, they will gel like mercury in every possible nook n corner of Bengal. Just my thoughts....

  • image Upendra has hit the nail on the head !! The twin pronged diplomacy approach in a nutshell is 1. Win the hearts of the Bongs and the doors of the promised land will start opening 2. Create awareness of the Gorkhaland issue at the National level ( The war zone) through various means. It is here that I would like to remind readers of the third angle by referring to an important phrase " other things being equal/constant" i.e. the absolute solidarity of pro Gorkhaland forces in the battle zone (Darjeeling-Dooars) for we have had and still have our fair share of Mir Jafars within our midst. Also the Telengana isuue is hotting up with the TRS having turned yesterday's by poll in AP to a separate statehood referendum. Let us pray that the TRS sweeps the polls so that national parties will have to concede to a Telengana state ahead of the next Lok Sabha polls instaed of dumping the issue to the Second SRC Dustbin. In such an eventuality GJMM will have to intensify the movement and go all out to piggyback ride the Teleganists into Parliament instead of missing the Uttatranchal jharkhand bus , like the the last time. Also I would like Upendra's comments as regards the reason for demanding a separate state by the Indian Gorkhas as espoused by the Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh which can be seen by opening the link http://gorkhaparisangh.org/nationalissu.htm

  • image Madan Tamang and CK shresta was right, about 90% of the Politician in Delhi does'nt know what we are demanding for. They have no idea how and why these people are shouting time to time, they consider this as routine political turmoil. But our issue is unique and different,we dont want money,we are not demanding for special pakage as we have enough resouces and we can survive of our own!But we are fighting for identity crisis. We are not fighting for ST hood like Gujjars, put us all in General Categroy but give us Gorkhaland ,this will give us identity that we are Indian. We are fighting for dignity not for ST quotas.
