  • image Well, saddens me to hear that our hills are in the grip of some form of 'talibanism' where it is now a crime for couples to hold hands! Folks, Darjeeling was known for its famous romantic fervour with places named as Lover's Meet (between Darjeeling and Kalimpong) that echoed this sentiment and also boasts of famous love stories written by emminent home-grown writers. Have we stooped so low that we now fail to see the grimness and despondency that creeps into loveless hearts? For is it not that makes the world go around? Or do we just sit idly by and let the so called moral police to take over even the very vestiges of our own personal lives...when they have already taken so much else!!!

  • image Yes, I agree with you Mr. Subha, time to time international policies must be update. In a diverse country like India, disaffection and discontent are not uncommon. Indian democracy has the necessary resilience to accommodate genuine grievances within the framework of our sovereignty, unity & integrity. We have an example of J&K State, where Govt.of India has expressed its willingness to accommodate the legitimate political demands of the people of the state of J&K. However, Pak sponsored terrorists have terrorised the population and hindered political dialogue by intimidating or silencing voices of moderation that wish to engage in dialogue, as a result of this the human rights of the people of J&K have been systematically violated by such terror tactics and the kidnappings and killings of innocent people by terrorists, for which Pak Army and ISI are playing a vital significant role to sponsored terrorists activities in Indian soil. As your view is again correct, "due to weak administration of our neighboring countries the terrorists are easily infiltrating to Indian soil"- being a VETERANS solder of the Indian Armed Forces, I have deep experience and field experiment to this effects. This hdthulungkirat personally write/ published several Article in different occasions, in the topics- Terror Activities including Northern Frontier/NE and different parts of India. So far China threat is concern, needless to say China has its Military balance, as per US published estimates- China's military spending as high as 150 billion USD. However, India and China are both Super power in modern Military strategy in Asia and world, but never the less we should not forget that 'HINDI CHENI BHAI BHAI' of 1962……….!!!

  • image but time to time international policies shud be updated.i think govt will take steps in the future...u know nepal and bangladesh offers a safe passage to militants to India....nepal & bangladesh both have an unstable political condition and they r too weak in administration.....same is case for pakistan which is now itself in grip of a taliban threat..our only big enemy is china and believe me china is following an indirect infiltration to claim areas of arunachal.we need think tanks and strategies to combat china

  • image Mr. Subha, well, now I am agree with you in some extend with your below mention two different comments. Indian Nepali/Gorkhali is Indian first and Indian last, if they are foreigner (in some people view) then why their language i.e. Nepali language has been included in the 8th schedule of Indian Constitutions...? Is there any provision for any foreign language to include in the above schedule...? Certainly NOT. It also proves that they are also No.1 citizen of Indian Union like other Indian citizen. However there should be always separate thoughts while describing them! So far as foreign policy is concern, the treaty-negotiations-bilateral-dialogue etc. with our neighboring countries are the topics and syllabus of Ministry level @ Govt. of India and foreign policy! You and I can do nothing with it! Brother we are Indian, so our thoughts should be Indian too; –'VASUDEO KUTOMBAM'- whole universe is our own family. One time HERO next time ZERO- these are the bitter truths…! There is nothing impossible in today's modern world. How powerful was Russia…?? And where is that powerful Russia now..? "Time & Tides W…A…I…T… for Non" Brother, We have to wait & watch.....AAGAY....AAGAY.... HOTA.....HAI.....KYA.......This is HDTHULUNGKIRAT from UAE, have a nice weekend and take care!

  • image Subha ! I think we have a dialogue going on however your last comment was more sane and soothing I'd say. Be so. Just wanted to tell you that sealing International Borders is not as easy as you think. The Govt. of India has decided to fence the Border with Bangladesh years ago and still the progress is lethargic. In doing so do you know that we can put up fences (I think 100 metres) inside our territory ? What about the land that lies outside the fence ? What is the guarantee that the fence will stand because to guard it there should be at least three guards (taking into account working hours for a guard) to every 25 metres or so for visibility and if so can you calculate the expenditure ? International Borders will always remain porous, it is only with Good Bilateral Relations that countries can maintain Balance and Cooperation - for this you have to leave it to the Ministry of Defence' External Affairs and of course the PMO. There is one Interesting Development - did you read a BBC Clip "The Indian foreign ministry has dismissed a suggestion by a Chinese think tank that the country should be broken up into 30 independent states." Put on your Thinking Cap Buddy. Gorkhaland may not be a Distant Dream. By the way read my comment on ' Third Round Talks held with GJM'

  • image see political conditions in neighbours like nepal, bngladesh and pakistan are itself unstable..e dont need to interfere further.....but worst things are that all these three countries are allowing anti india activities from their soil..so its better to seal border with all these countries aand restrict illegal immigrants..now job is to stop illegal immigrants from all these countries..........but india should express its might to aall these countries so that they think twice..china is using nepel's soil against india..as a whole all of them r stupid countries and hence not able to sustain anywhere.

  • image Once again Subha - It's a great wish that ones country should be influential and dominant in its geographical area but at the present juncture and the position that India is in do you think that it is wise enough for India to stick its neck out to meddle in the affairs of our neighbouring countries ? Can you recall what happened to our PM Rajiv Gandhi when he tried to meddle in Sri Lankan affairs ? With what strength and authority should India interfere in other countries affairs ? I'd like to get a sincere reply from you, not just bitterness pouring out.

  • image see Indian gorkhas are 100% Indians...why r u reacting when i m saying that nepal shud be destabilized......being an Indian both bangladesh and Nepal r foreign counrires and these counrties are no good for India.India shud be like a big brother in south asia with countries like nepal and bangladesh being unstable.........bangaladeshi as well as nepalis illegal immigrants shud be sent back after verifications.its high time India denounces Indo_nepal treaty and push back neplais to their borders......

  • image Mr. Avinash Brother truly said- your comments are 100% correct. It is universal truth and established facts. So far people like so called SUBHA are good for nothing just advertising their ignorance to the world! as there academic knowledge are below average poor student in all subjects like history-geography-psy-chemistry-maths-pol-science-etc.GK is zero, then how can he knows about 'Treaty of Sugauli'-1950, he even don't know what is Indian democracy! For ur kind info we the GORKHAS have our document prove, of our GL.It will be submitted when asked for by the union of India! Our GL will be create very soon, nothing is impossible for Gorkhas and in Indian democracy. you wait and watch .....AAGAY....AAGAY.... HOTA.....HAI.....KYA......."Jaltay raaho....khud raag ho jaogay"

  • image Subha - why are you so paranoid ? The Nepalese (ie of Nepal) are in India Rightfully as per the Treaty of 1950 and you being a Nepali (of India or Gorkhey for that matter) speak against your very roots. The Bangladeshis - Illegal Immigrants who are in India courtesy the Bengalis (read CPIM) are honourably settled here and literally helped in getting themselves registered as Indian Voters with Ration Cards et al. No Bengali ever mentions about an Immigrant Bangladeshi. Have you ever told or helped any Legitimate Indian Nepali (Gorkhey if you like) to register him / her for a Voter Card or a Ration Card ? Find out how many of our Legitimate brothers and sisters do not have one having been for generation in Independent India since the incorporation of this territory into British India - then you can speak up against the Immigrants.

  • image like in Assam, Darjeeling and the adjacent area should be separated as Gorkhaland on the basis of the population of 1947. All those bloody Amaar Baangla of Siliguri and Dooars should be heckled back to their original country Bangladesh. Nepalese after 1950 also should be treated in the same way.

  • image if India is to rest in peace nepal, bangladesh and pakistan shud be destabilized completely..darjeeling belongs to india and illegeal nepali immigrants wont be able to separate it.nepalis, bangladeshis are very weak and idiot countries,,,so a twig is enough to make them dance like a monkey

  • image ..........In 1763 General Major Hector Munro at Buxar defeated the confederate army on 22 October,After winning the Battle of Buxar, the British had earned the right to collect land revenue in Bengal, Bihar and Orissa. After Prithvi Narayan Shah's conquest and unification of greater Nepal, Darjeeling came to be a part of Nepal. Owing to a disagreement over the frontier policy of the Gorkhas, war was declared towards the close of 1813 by the British East India Company.a treaty signed at Segouli at the end of 1816 the Nepalese ceded 4,000 square miles (10,000 km2) of territory. On 10th of February 1817 the British India made the land over to the Rajah of Sikkim on the basis of a treaty signed at Titlya. The Raja of Sikkim restored the country between Mechi and the Tista rivers. Ten years after the treaty, disputes on the Sikkim-Nepal frontiers arose and the then Governor General sent two Officers — Captain Lloyd and Mr. Grant to help control the dispute. Sikkim, including Darjeeling was then a buffer state between Nepal and Bhutan. After settling the discord, the two representatives found the area around present Darjeeling suitable to establish a sanitarium for the British troop. General Lloyd was given the responsibility to negotiate a lease of the area from the Chogyal of Sikkim. The lease was grant on 1 February, 1835. I the Sikkimputtee Rajah out of friendship for the said Governor-General, hereby present Darjeeling to the East India, that is, all the land south of the Great Runjeet river, east of the Balasur, Kahail and Little Runjeet rivers, and west of the Rungpo and Mahanadi rivers." This was an unconditional cession of what was then a worthless uninhabited mountain; but in 1841 the government granted the Raja an allowance of Rs. 3,000 as compensation, and raised the grant to Rs. 6,000 in1846."

  • image Gorkhaland ---------------------------- Reading all the comments, I wonder did DJ elected JS and thought that things will be taken care of, the answer is NO. JS was a weapon and he will be continue to be so. I can say with cent percent faith that he will continue to guide GJM on the actions to be taken and how the movement to be continued, we can even have him march with DJ ppl and see what kind of publicity the movements get. And, one person cann't get the GL nither do one organization. It should a collective effort, so stand up and be ready to spread your rightful demand of GL with double effort. If all the ppl in DJ get to the street, who can deny GL, I will you no one. It might take one more year but it will be realized. I strongly urge intellectuals behind GJM do more brain-stroming and get the right way to forward the movement. Its not only the dream of DJ ppl, but also all the Gorkhey in India and around the world. We will develop DJ like no one did in INDIA and show these nay sayer what it meant to have our own statehood. Remember though, we are fighting for identity and the desire is only second to fighting for survival. And as Darwin said, survival of the fittest theory, we have to better in term of thinking and strategy then our opponent. And, our opponent is chela of croocked British ( I believe British are the best crooks on the earth) so imagine and prepare yourself DJ ppl, GJM and GJM's intellect. Yes,JS will continue to raise the issue of GL in the parliament and GJM should continue to do Ghandhigiri in DJ and lets WB in DJ to a complete stop ..full stop..and see what kind of hue and cry comes out of Calcutta. Basically, DJ ppl in the hills and plains say NO to WB. GL is our and we will fight. We dont need any major party to support us, if they support fair enough but GL fight continues till we get what we want but without violance. Lets have more confidence in us and continue the fight.

Jaswantji, by publishing your book about Jinnah you have shown the world what a courageous person you are and how liberal your thoughts are and how deep your political understanding is. India would be very poor without people like you. Somewhere I read that you do not have a political base, just bring them to Darjeeling and show them that you are one of us. You are the future prime minister of India." We believe in you, I remember that when you were selected by BJP for Darjeeling you told your leadership --- No matter what, you will always stand for Gorakhaland. No matter what, we believe in you.
