7 January: Gorkha National Congress released blue print of greater Sikkim, which includes Darjeeling, Siliguri and Jalpaiguri district.
12 January: Mr. Subash Ghisingh inaugurated the Teesta Tourism Carnival, where he tendered the local brews “Tongba” (traditionally fermented millet substance) to river Teesta.
13 January: Chungthung Tea garden closed, owned by East India produce Limited.
3 February: Discouraging to celebrate ‘Losar” and wearing “Bakhu”, Subash Ghisingh appealed to Tamang community and suggested to save its identity, in the programme held at Capital Hall.
19 February: Foundation stone of Balasan drinking water project laid at Chowrasta by Chief Minister Mr. Bhudhadev Bhatacharya, Mr. Subash Ghisingh was also present on the occasion.
23 February: Second time Subash Ghisingh discouraged celebrating Tibetan’s “Losar” to Tamang community, alleged international spice agency within Tamang community during the inauguration of Swarswati primary school at Peshok.
25 February: B. R Dewan, resident of Chungthung Tea garden, committed suicide against the injustice done by Ajit Agrawal, owner of Chungthung Tea garden. Darjeeling hills were closed day after.
11 May: GNLF wins all the three MLA seats from Darjeeling hills. This was consecutive forth win of GNLF.
23 June: Exposed most highlighted scam, Sarva Siksha Aviyan (SSA) of Rs 5.14 crore. The fund was under DGHC for the construction and maintenance of 102 primary schools. The false documents were used to withdrawn money. The main accused Lakpa Rynden still at large.
11 August: Portion of the NH55 (Sikkim-Kalimpong highway) submerge into Teesta owing to landslide at Rambhi, Kalimpong.
24 September: Four days incessant rain caused massive landslide at Kazi Goun, Tungsung. Nine die in landslide.
26 October: R P Lama, former president of Nepali Sahitya Sammelan, and father of Dr. Mahendra P Lama, passed away at the age of 75. Dr. Pawan Chamling, Chief Minister of Sikkim, participated in the funeral.
