Darjeeling Carnival begins

Darjeeling: Long awaited Darjeeling Carnival, 10 days grand event, begins here in Darjeeling after a month of preparation with a big bang.  A cultural rally started from Railway station with a festive float decorated as a train engine followed by Mister and Miss Flashback Darjeeling 2006, commemorating the 125 Anniversary of DHR, festive procession ended at Chowrasta. Police band, school children & teachers and volunteers participated in the rally. Opening ceremony of 4th Darjeeling Carnival held at Chowrasta by paying homage to late Sashiprasad, founder member of Darjeeling Carnival. Chowrasta seems to be the prettiest moment of the year.

Innovative ideas of Carnival Team, first time in the biggest event of Darjeeling, six guests were called for Darjeeling Carnival as they are the integral part of society, such as sweeper, porter, nurse, teacher, traffic police and social worker. Opening ceremony lasted for three hours with songs and cultural dances at Chowrasta.  Darjeeling witnessed the biggest event of the year today, there was hardly any space in Chowrasta.
