Sonia to consider Gorkhaland issue

DARJEELING, July 19: The UPA chairperson Mrs Sonia Gandhi today assured the Darjeeling Congress MP Mr Dawa Narbula of seriously considering the Gorkhaland issue. “Mrs Gandhi expressed concern with the problems of the Hills and assured to consider the demand for Gorkhaland seriously. She assured of a meeting on the issue after the Trust vote on 22 July,” Mr Narbula said from New Delhi today.

Mr Narbula said he submitted a three-point charter of demands to Mrs Gandhi in her residence. A dialogue with the GJMM leadership and arrangement of a tripartite meeting between the Centre, West Bengal government and the GJMM in New Delhi; constitution of a States Re-organisation Commission and inclusion of Gorkhaland in the list of the proposed smaller states makes up the list of demands.

“Mrs Gandhi assured to arrange a tripartite meeting soon to solve the Gorkhaland issue. She is aware that the BJP is politicking on the issue by extending verbal support to the proposal of smaller states,” he added.

  • image Hey guys, we people are concerntrating only in darjeeling district.Frist of all I request all G.L well wisher to abandone the word "Hills" from any discussion and corrospondence while uttering the word Darjeeling.My humble request to our leaders Mr.Gurung,Giri Dr.H.B Chettri and Mr.Madan Tamang and all.Because Darjeeling people dosent represents people living in Hills only,There are so many people and our supporters for G.L in plains.Secondly Doars is not Hill.I have personally seen GJM flags fluttering in Chamurchi,Birpara, up to Hamilton.We should not forget that adhibashis in doars teagarden are equally victim of Geographical and racial difference as Nepali speaking population who enjoys mix culture and socity.Let us try to include these area and population in every discussion as it is in the agenda of G.L agitation.Otherways communial forces of these areas will take advantage of this uppertunity again and use these innocent people for dividing the society.Their target is only VOTE not their social upliftment and developement.History for last 50 years is its witness and proof.JAI GORKHA , JAI GORKHALAND.

  • image First of all, Subash Ghising should be tried in a criminal court (peoples' court) for betraying the aspirations of the hill people. Secondly, since the UPA govt. have confronted and saw the true colour of the CPM, the UPA govt. should seriously consider the rightful demand of the hill people by introducing a bill for the creation of "Gorkahland" in the parliament without any further delay thus enabling the Darjeeling hill people to breathe in the fresh air of ultimate freedom which they truely deserve. Mrs. Gandhi, you won't regret your action since the Gurkhas will definitely keep in mind and will always be indebted as they very well know that "A Friend in need is a Friend indeed."

  • image Hey Guys its high time...we should be aware that until and unless we don;t get something in writing or something in public...the cry for a different state is a far away dream...so please please if any of our politicians or a person who has a good contact with our political leaders please advise them what we actually want...and please POLITICIANS stop fooling our innocent people.FOR GOD SAKE

  • image From the speeches of the smaller parties in parliament before voting Congress has promised all sorts of things to all small parties around 10 to 15 of them... fulfilling them is big question mark. they just want to survive till next election. and if the elections take place after THE DELIMITATION it will be interesting ...... from the 3 hill sub division 3 lakhs voter and from the plains 5 lakhs so.. we might not even have our representation! Now lets all pray I am wrong!

  • image we only prey to God and our leaders to project and persue the issue with determination ,deep thought,and dedication. A good leader shall always take /listen advise suggestion of others but take own decesion hence it is suggested that no harm taking tips from the veteran politician to make own strategy,move plan , options etc. l Let us forget about everything this time except the cause for Gorkhaland. I remember the hurting remerks of my superior in 1986 who remarked " why don"t you gyes go to Nepal'

  • image It is only like a ray of hope when Mrs Gandhi says that she will look into the matter of Gorkhaland seriously but Will she ? is a question.There has been a lot of promises from the political figures for the past couple of years but hardly anything has been fulfilled.The only concern is in the game of "DIRTY MINDS" the simple gurkhas should not be lost.Above all lets be UNITED and lead the movement not only to Rays Of Hope but to a dream come true////////////Jai Gurkha......Jai Gorkhaland,,,,,,,,,,,,
