Darjeeling, January 6: It appears like Gorkha Janmukti Morcha adopting early GNLF’s political strategies, where almost hundred percent, people of Darjeeling hills and Dooars were involved and supported for the issue of Gorkhaland. After 22 years, exactly in the same place there was huge public meeting was conducted for the same cause, but this time by GJMM, three month old new political force in Darjeeling hills. The only Gorkha stadium, situated at Lebong, 9 km away from Darjeeling, built and maintained extremely poor condition, witnessed the huge public gathering today organised by GJMM. People were floated in from all parts of Darjeeling hills and plains.
Before the commencement of their programme, all the GJMM leaders including Mr. Bimal Gurung, president of GJMM, carried out oath of their sincerity, honesty towards people and transparency of their work, in front of huge public gathering.
Mr. Bimal Gurung, today announced a series of programmes for the next three months, which will be carried out peacefully based on Gandhi’s theory – non cooperation movement and it should not be like 86’s agitation. Moreover, Governments should not take it as lightly, otherwise, consequences may be unfortunate, requests Mr. Gurung, during the programme.
The programmes are as follows:
14 January to 21 January
Non-cooperation movement by Central and State Govt. employees – shut down all the Central and State government offices across the Darjeeling Hills
21 January
Burning of 1988 tripartite accord of DGHC at Chowrasta, 11:19 am and in all Darjeeling hills.
21 February
The youth wings will organise a huge rally and public meeting in Darjeeling hills
22 February to 27 February
Candle light rally at 4:30 pm in all Darjeeling hills (signifying justice and democracy in the Darjeeling hills and plains)
28 February
Women’s wing rally across the Darjeeling hills and public meeting at Darjeeling
29 February
All the DGHC officials to be resigned (Principal / chief secretaries and Executives – force will be used if required, as they are the hurdles in the way of Gorkhaland)
7, 17, 24 March
Lalkoti Gherao, on 7 March 3 - 4 constituencies will participate, on 17 March, 8 - 9 constituencies will participate, on 24 March, all the Darjeeling hills and Dooars will join the Gherao programme.
10 to 14 March
17 to 21 March
DGHC offices all over Darjeeling hills will remain shut-down. (Non-cooperation movement drive)
21 to 23 March
Hunger strike in all sub divisions with a group of 21 participants
1 April onwards
Boycott of all Central and State Taxes
