Silent peace rally

A symbolic silent peace rally was held in Darjeeling town, started from Chowrasta to Chowkbazaar, organised by the citizens of Darjeeling town, headed by Mr. B K Pradhan. Thousands of local inhabitants participated in the peace rally with pen and copy books on hands, placards quoting: “we want peace” etc. Citizens of Darjeeling, consisting of professionals, business men, etc. requested district administrations, GJMM and GNLF to restore peace in Darjeeling hills and also encouraged local shopkeepers to be united and courageous against anti social elements.

  • image Ghanta ko Peace! before 1986 there was peace ,and biharees and bengolees used to harase us.We were so gentle that we wouldnt utter a word and thats why we were their favourite.We used to be happy when our saheb would say "Shyabash".What we got with all those peace?after some struggle we got DGHC but our own semi-hungry leaders took it every thing.Bargaining is the way that works in India to get anything.Opposing,fighting and struggling,revolting are the means to achieve.

  • image wow ..this is great,,,really..far from home we were so worried to hear abt the political situation in darj.....and how it would effect the normal day-today life...and in my heart i was hoping and praying things would work out between the various..so called leaders...so that the people would not suffer...and then i read this,,,yes it is a worthy cause ..by our very own people...shows they are fully aware,,,and are sure of what they want for darjeeling....m so proud of all these people who made this rally so significant......SILENCE AT TIMES IS REALLY LOUD...hope the "concerned selfish people' got the message...and now PEACE will prevail in darjeeling forever,,,,OH....i miss darj so much.

Our generation can’t wait 200yrs for our Identity and lost heritage in the hands of disgraced and deteriorated institution of politics. As an individual, I request masses to understand and think about the quote by Mr. Larsen in his book “A certain Democrat”: “whether it is in the interest of the left or the right, it is the freedom of innocent people of democracy who suffer and fall prey to be in the Crowds and the Crowds become Mobs and Mobs give rise to the likes of Hitler and Mussolini”. BRAVO- the well organized peace rally: Hope masses beyond the geographical and mental parameters of Darjeeling know about “The Gorkhaland Peace Revolution” through print and media at further large scale! TEKUMSEH!!!

  • image The rally now really reflects the true Darjeelingians as we are known in our neighbouring countries. We are appreciated for our academic achievements, talents in arts and other co-curricular activities and on the top of that we are peace loving citizens of India. The rally with the pens and the notebooks was worth watching and it proved that without the barbaric nature (Khukuries, guns and violence) also we could achieve our goal...

  • image Peace comes next to identity,Security and Freedom.Without freedom and security we cant dream of Peace, and whats the use of Peace when your entire generation is going to shattered.If we demand for peace today then our next generation would never have peace,identity and security tomorrow.Our freedom and security is our homeland(Gorkhaland) within India.Those who were in the peace process have Govt. Jobs, Bank Balance,secured life.For few People, Darjeeling is Paradise and for the rest its a hell.Most of the youths are living miserable life with Rs. 2000 salary(Council ko),Water crisis,Bad Roads,Poor Health and sanitation,Poor education,fear etc.20 years under DGHC was peacefull process which shows our patience,Decency now the time has come to do it in otherways.Time has come to go for Hungestrike and non-cooperation.Ghishing should have asked the people whether we want 6th Schedule or any other alternatives.There should be an election before 6th scedule.6th schedule has been vested on us without the consent of the people of Darjeeling. If you want peace then prepare for war.Lets fight for our Jati and Mato.We are slave,so first think about our freedom from Bengal and then dream about Peace. 20 years of DGHC ruined one generation completely and now 6th schedule is going to ruin the comming generation. 6th schedule was implemented in 1970s for the betterment of Tribals in NE.Now after 37 years of 6th schedule in NE there is no any sign of progess.So how do we expect this 6th schedule would develop already shattered Darjeeling? We need radical changes for the development.You cant get anything with Peace.Just watch Parliament Hungama why do MPs fight in the Parliament.This is India we cant get penny by begging one has to snatch.Lets fight and Snatch.Or Play dirty politics for the people,by the people and of the people of Darjeeling. 6th schedule is not for the and of the people.
