During the 4th Tripartite Talk, GJMM has been immensely pressurized to focus only on the creation of Gorkhaland, besides, the conclusion of the Meeting seems to be only TALK on POLITICAL LEVEL in next round. Do you think 4th Tripartite Talk has been successful?

By DT Correspondent on November 29,2006

Darjeeling: Legal notice was served to 31 shops, encroachers of Railway prime land in Railway Malgodown premises, Chowk bazaar. The notice states that the person in occupation of the land should vacate within 15 days of the publication of the order. In case of refusal or failure to comply, the concerned persons are liable to be evicted, if required force will be applied.

The shop keepers who have been served eviction notices by the North east Frontier Railway have sought the help of the GNLF. With the help of GNFL, Darjeeling Railway Malgodown Unemployed Association held the protest rally today against the so called legal notice. GNLF leaders Mr. K. B Gurung, former councilor, led the protest rally, and determined his and GNLF’s strong protest against the Railway decision. GNLF leaders later submitted the letter of memorandum to Darjeeling station master, demanding their right to stay.
