Convention of Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh
Delhi: The 3-day national convention of Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh (BGP) held at L. T. G Auditorium, Mandi house premises, New Delhi. Around 400 representatives, social workers and intellectuals from 22 states participated in the Convention. The chief guest was Mr. T. B Rai, Speaker, Assam Assembly. The function was presided over by Dr. A. D Pradhan, president of organizing committee. The lamp was lighted by chief guest, which was kept on the water and mud brought from different places of Indian Gorkhas living in. Regional heads of BGP chanted slogans while entering the convention hall with BGP’s flags – ‘Jai Gorkha’, ‘Jai Hind’ etc. Mr. Manikumar Subba – Assam MP, Mr. R. B. Rai – former MP, Dr. G. S Yonjon – president, Janapata party, Darjeeling branch, Mr. G M. Rai – president, Sikkim Gorkha Democratic and highest rank of Ex army were present at the convention.
Chief guest Mr. Rai, welcomed the unity of Gorkhas. He emphasized on Gorkhas unity to preserve the Gorkha language, literature and culture. He also highlighted the different problems of North East Gorkhas.
General secretary Mr. Sukman Moktan, appealed to all the Indian Gorkhas and ex- armies to join this novel campaign.
Mr. C. K Shrestha, president, expressed the event as historic and the golden era towards the future of Gorkhas.
