Darjeeling: The seven volume book 'Cultural Portrait’ has just been released internationally, the book, published under a UNESCO project, also tackles many other interesting myths and facts about the Himalayan kingdom, Nepal. The booklets were prepared to create wider awareness campaign locally as well as internationally on the need to preserve the Kathmandu Valley as World Heritage Sites.

The book traces the history of Nepal right from the days of the Licchavi kings (200 AD) to contemporary monarchs. The book also records certain aspects of the history of Nepal that have been virtually forgotten today.

The story of Kathmandu is fascinatingly written by young author Vibhushan Subba, resident of Vileri state, Darjeeling railway station premises, Darjeeling. The student of Mount Harmon and St. Joseph’s, currently he is doing Master in mass communication at Ismalia Mass Communication Research Centre, New Delhi.

  • image Kudos to our brother for the good work.I sincerely hope that this will be an inspiration to many of our youngsters in developing our interest in our roots and also to not just accept whatever is written about our origins by some armchair historians.Frankly I am trully sick of reading all this stuff about our origins like that Bappa Rawal and all these Gaurakchhak stuff. We also need to make our young generation aware about our history whether we are in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Europe , South Asia or America and instill a sense of pride in our history.
