Darjeeling, June 22: Darjeeling Goodwill center organized a concert called "Solstice Music Day' to celebrate International Music Day in Darjeeling on June 21. During the Show, western classical music was performed by Ensemble Gandhi School, Kalimpong. Violin artists were Bidhan BK,Prajmal Pradhan, Pravash Tamang, Pasong Tamang and Verena Kowaljow. Similarly, in Voila Josefine Schoen and Sujam Chettri presented their talent. Ajay Darjee and Bikram Subba displayed their best of performance in Cello.

KOLKATA: Bharat Chetri, who will lead the Indian hockey team at next month's London Olympics, was among the 556 sportpersons who were awarded with a total purse of Rs 30 lakh during a felicitation ceremony by the West Bengal government at the Netaji Indoor stadium on Tuesday.

KalimNews: Roshni Rai the sole Gorkha runner to represent India in the Comrades Marathon 2012 could finish her race successfully in 11 hr 50 min 26 sec. She was qualified for running the 89 km run within the time frame. Roshni's  position was 804, gender position 2174 and overall was 11211. She succeeded to get the medal for successful completion. Her speed rate was about 7.86 kmph.

Darjeeling, May 23: Yet again Darjeeling witnessed a huge public rally today, young or old, almost every marcher traditionally equipped with Lepcha attire and determination. Lepchas of Darjeeling hills from different spheres of life gathered in Darjeeling town demanding to expedite the implementation of Lepcha Development Council which was agreed by the present West Bengal Govt. during the Kolkata Protest March held under the Banner of Indigenous Lepcha Tribal Association (ILTA).
