AN OPEN LETTER TO THE CHAIRMAN, DARJEELING MUNICIPALITY, DISTRICT MAGISTRATE, DARJEELING.
IN APPRECIATION FOR PROMPT ACTION TAKEN
After the publication my letter (AN OPEN LETTER TO THE CHAIRMAN, DARJEELING MUNICIPALITY) regarding Chowrasta in Darjeelingtimes.com, the response was huge in positive manner. Chowrasta was abuzz with appreciation, in-fact on Saturday morning we were greeted by new, clean and scenic beauty of what Chowrasta was famous for. I have taken few snapshots of Chowrasta of that morning. This is to show my gratitude Sir, that all the hope is not dead weight yet sitting on our stooped shoulder, if the people like you can still take prompt action like this, one can always look up for the silver lining in the darkest cloud.
I am extremely pleased to know unquestionably quick action taken by Darjeeling Municipality on this matter, consequently there was a meeting between horses’ owner and The Chairman, Darjeeling Municipality. We are not demanding to remove the horses’ totally from this area, the horse riding is also a part of legacy of Chowrasta, but the way they are doing it is utter nuisance. Everyone has right to do their trade but it must be done in proper manner, I have witnessed several incidents like when these horses’ starts fighting many tourist flee in panic sometimes they gets hurts also.
Sir, there is beautification work is going in Chowrasta worth more than Rs.9 crore, I really appreciate it because the park was another dark spot in the beauty of Darjeeling it was lying useless and was a site for street dogs waste. It will be worthless if this practice goes on with no discipline, all the horses’ dong and urine, with their acrid smell. So, for the sake of comfort of few we cannot destroy the natural beauty of Darjeeling and its value. Your notification must be implemented word to word and letter to letter.
Let’s, have some kind of discipline and law and order at-least in this part of town in everyone’s interest. Every body is talking about returning Darjeeling to its old Glory, so let us start from this very crown of Darjeeling, Chowrasta, and The Mall with your responsive assistance, authority and care.
Once again I am thanking on behalf of every concerned citizen of Darjeeling for the prompt action you have taken to the humble request of senior citizen.
I am enclosing few photos of Chowrasta of Saturday morning.
